She began focusing on an achromatic palette with large charcoal drawings and became interested in details, specifically mark-making, shading and perspective. Drawn to clay and its versatility, she values the option of functionality in ceramics immensely and loves to work on a 3D canvas while incorporating 2D design.
Consequentially, she has chosen to work mainly in clay, which presents opportunities in objectifying two types of dimensional designs. This allows her to incorporate her favorite visceral artistic applications: wheel throwing and drawing.
Fay uses both of these skills, carefully combining them with her favorite technique, sgraffito. Playing into her talents, she taps into a subconscious depth of dreams and despair, weaving these conceptually emotional experiences into artworks both elegant and contrary.
